Day 29: Lily Windsor Walker

I am over the moon to introduce today’s fabulous creative (@lilywindsorwalker on Instagram) because her work is so joyful, unique and funky! I just wish I could cover my house in soft furnishings and wallpapers in Lily’s incredible prints; they are SO dreamy!

Please may you introduce yourself and your practice.
Hi everyone! 👋 my name is Lily Windsor Walker (@lilywindsorwalker) and I am a freelance print designer, illustrator and painter based in Manchester. I create designs mainly for fashion brands and sell prints and other products on my Etsy shop! 🌷

How did you develop your practice?
I studied printed textiles and surface pattern design at Leeds Arts University, which is where I found my personal style of design. We explored all types of media and ways of working, which helped me find my very own place within the surface design industry! I graduated last year and have been freelancing since I finished uni. I have recently set up an online Etsy shop to sell my work, which will hopefully have exciting new stock up soon!

What inspires you and why do you love your practice?
I am inspired by nature and the outdoors. Seeing different colours and shapes in plants and flowers really helps me come up with something new and exciting! I am also deeply inspired by other creatives I find on Instagram; there are just so many amazing artists out there and looking at their beautiful work is inspirational.

What does it mean to you to be a creative feminist?
It means quite a lot to me to be a creative feminist I’d say! There are so so many talented women creatives out there and we are all so powerful when we work together, seeing creative feminist communities on Instagram is so energising, so this is such a great movement to be a part of! 💖💖 love to you all xxx

Lily has such a wonderful eye for turning natural elements and shapes into such original and vibrant prints and I love to see them pop up on my Instagram feed; she’s such an inspiration so please give Lily a warm welcome by following her page on Instagram –  @lilywindsorwalker and by commenting your thoughts below! It’s been a dream come true having you join the community Lily.
