Day 54: Chloe Watts

I am so thankful to today’s creative feminist (@chloeyasart) for creating art that is not only utterly gorgeous but also incredibly necessary and relevant. Chloe’s art reminds me that great art holds the powerful to move us, stir us and educate us; I am in complete awe of this thoughtful, honest and talented creative feminist.

Please may you introduce yourself and your practice
My name is Chloe Watts (@chloeyasart) and I am an illustrator and animator from Manchester.

How did you develop your practice?
My practice has developed over time in parallel to my journey of recovery from anorexia. Following a lengthy hospital stay, I have been making art and using my practice as an outlet for my thoughts. I have just completed my first year of uni.

What inspires you and why do you love your practice?
My practice is inspired by my journey, and by matters that I feel I want to explore. I love my practice because I love being surrounded by art and I find this to be very therapeutic and beneficial to my wellbeing.

What does it mean to you to be a creative feminist?
For me, being a creative feminist means that I can have a voice, and draw attention to the matters and injustices of today’s society. I am very grateful to be able to share my opinions and create in order to raise awareness.

I cannot give Chloe enough praise for the incredible work she is doing within her artwork; each piece is thoughtful, personal and holds a very important narrative. Thank you for this Chloe. Please give Chloe the super warm welcome to the fem fam she deserves by following her page @chloeyasart and by commenting your love and thoughts below.
