I am completely spellbound by today’s creative feminist’s (@nataliegraydesign) incredibly deep and rich use of complimentary colours, which make her designs wonderfully vibrant.
Please may you introduce yourself and your practice
Hi I’m Natalie (@nataliegraydesign), I specialise in print design and I’m still on the path to figuring out what I want to do exactly and I’m learning everyday! I work with both wet and digital print but because of lockdown, I’ve been developing my digital skills and I’m loving it!
How did you develop your practice?
I’ve had quite a long path to discovering that this is what I want to do but really, I developed my skills through studying at Bath Spa Uni and I’m currently finishing my second year.
What inspires you and why do you love your practice?
I’m inspired by bright bold colours, unusual shapes and spreading sustainable messages. I’m constantly inspired by other designers and instagram is a massive space for me to get sucked into. I love print design as it allows me to create any image and pattern that I wish and there are no limits!
What does it mean to you to be a creative feminist?
It means a lot to be a creative feminist, I have so many important women who inspire me in my life and working together with other strong creative women is so empowering!
I am really inspired by Natalie’s willingness and openness to keep evolving, adapting and learning. I think, as creatives, remaining open to change and newness is incredibly important and not to be forgotten when we get into a groove or routine with a project. Natalie’s love and willingness to try and learn new things each and everyday manifests itself in the variety of beautiful pieces she’s been making from her bespoke and sustainable cushions to her utterly gorgeous wrap skirt; sign me up! Please show Natalie an incredibly warm welcome to the community by following her page @nataliegraydesign and by commenting your thoughts and words of love below! It’s such a pleasure to celebrate your delicious prints and products Natalie.
